Family Portraits Emberton Country Park

Family portraits Emberton Country Park

I’m lucky enough to live in a really pretty part of the world, close to some very beautiful parks.  Emberton Country Park is right on my doorstep and is a stunning backdrop for family portraits at all times of the year.

The lake produces some stunning reflections and there are some fabulous play areas and a whole range of gorgeous backdrops all over the park.

Relaxed outdoor family portraits are my favourite type of session, I find that both children and adults are less self-conscious with a bit of fresh air, producing much more natural results.  I take a few posed photographs but mostly we get the children to play with each other and the whole family to mess around together.  When you book your session we can pick a location to suit you near where you live.  Or if you book one of my mini-sessions near Olney these often take place at Emberton Park.   I do sometimes photograph indoors but as I tell all my customers I nearly always manage to shoot outside, regardless of our changeable UK weather, because I have my very own weather fairies !   Cloudy weather is actually great for shoots – much better than really bright sunlight so you don’t need to worry if it’s not a sunny day.  Last year I only cancelled outdoor shoot at the end of November due to rain – not bad for good old rainy England.  Like I say – weather fairies.

Here’s a few images taken from various recent shoots in Emberton par.   I hope you enjoy this sample and get in touch if you’d like a shoot for your family.  I’m getting booked up quickly and now taking bookings for Autumn.  There are a handful of shoots available on Saturdays over the summer – and more flexibility if you can do a weekday shoot.

Photographer Olney Milton Keynes

It’s been a week of sunshine and the spring colour is appearing – early daffodils and snowdrop and pink blossom on the trees.  As a photographer in Olney, Milton Keynes I am a self confessed fan of black and white photography, but you can’t beat a bit of colour when the flowers are out.  I will be posting up some spring images to get you in the mood for Spring Portrait Sessions and mini-sessions but thinking of all the gorgeous colours out there and beautiful clear blue skies and me reminiscing about Autumn and I realised that I hadn’t posted this wonderful colourful session from the end of last year.

These images are taken wandering around our gorgeous little town of Olney Milton Keynes where we are blessed to have perfect little photographic spots around every corner.   If you are looking for a Spring mini-session for your family get in touch on email info@siobhanmurphyphotography.co.uk or keep an eye on my facebook page here where I will be posting up details.

If you are looking for a photographer with years of experience in photographing and bonding with children (from the shy to the crazy), with the ability to relax the adults and make the session fun and who will produce images of the highest quality then please get in touch.   I specialist in outdoor lifestyle photo shoots which are natural and relaxed and fun.  I’m looking to capture your your children’s personalities and your relationship as a family not just sit you down against a white background and ask you all to smile.

Spring Portrait Sessions Olney

Spring Portrait Sessions near Olney, Milton Keynes

Well we had the Supermoon Eclipse and the Spring Equinox which means that Spring is officially here – and it’s one of my favourite times of year to photograph.  I love the fact that everything comes to life after Winter – all the flowers are starting to bloom in the garden and people start to feel so much happier.  It’s also the season for the bluebells – my favourite – I really love photographing families in the bluebell season – although it’s only a very short window for these shoots.

I am always very busy in Spring but I always allow a couple of weekends for mini-sessions – these are great if you don’t want a full photo session.  The are really good value small package deals which give you a shorter session and slightly less images to choose from, but the same style of photographs that I do for all my customers.

Mini sessions are take place at Castle Ashby Gardens in Northamptonshire and are short 20-30 minute sessions.  They are not suitable for very young babies.  The package costs £135 and includes 2 Mounted 8×6 Art Images and 2 Hi-Res digital files that can be printed lots of times or enlarged for self framing and canvases.

I have just 3 slots left for spring so get in touch on info@siobhanmurphyphotography.co.uk to book your slot.

Here are a selection of images taken last Spring – many of these are taken at Castle Ashby but others are taken in a variety of locations.  I hope you enjoy these Spring Portrait Sesssions.

Portrait Photo Packages – Olney Buckinghamshire

Portrait Photo Packages – Olney Buckinghamshire

Are you looking for a photo package that you can use for Christmas Gifts – sorry to mention Christmas !!   If you are looking for just a few images from a session rather than a full portrait shoot then perhaps one of my mini-shoot sessions might suit you.

I offer mini-sessions 2 or 3 times a year maximum – usually in Spring and Autumn.  A mini-session is a short session – around 20-30 minutes and comes as a photo package.  These sessions cost £135 and include the fee for the short session, 2 mounted images and 2 hi-resolution digital files.

Because these shoots are only 20-30 minutes they do not suit very young babies that cannot sit up unsupported, very “challenging” toddlers that are not keen to do anything you or I might suggest or very very shy children that take a long time to warm up.  If you have a child that fits into these categories you would be better opting for a full photo session.  My full sessions take as long as we need to do the shoot working around the needs of the child and any major meltdowns.

The next mini-shoots will take place on Saturdays in Autumn – the Autumn weather is usually ideal for shoots and the colours are just lovely.  They are ideally timed to enable you to get presents organised for grandparents etc..

Please get in touch if you are interested in booking a mini-shoot – these will on 18th October and 8th November at Castle Ashby Gardens in Northamptonshire.  The slots book up extremely quickly so book early to avoid missing out.   Email info@siobhanmurphyphotography.co.uk

To give you an idea of the sort of images you might expect from a mini-shoot – here are some examples from the mini-shoot days in Spring.  I have a great deal of experience so I can work very fast and get you some lovely images in a short time frame.

Child photographer Milton Keynes – Favourite images 2013

Child photographer based near Milton Keynes – Favourite images 2013

I thought I would share some of my favourite 2013 images from sessions with children and families.  This time of year is really a time for forward planning the dates for my seasonal mini-shoots, working out marketing strategies and looking at fabulous new locations and wonderful unique wall products I can find for my customers.  The diary is already busy with weekends booking fast but I thought I’d take a bit of time to show you some of the gorgeous families that I photographed last year.

If you like the idea of a shoot with a specialist child photographer but you are not really sure on what kind of shoot, the best time of year for a shoot or which locations would work you may get a few ideas from this selection.  It was hard to narrow them down so there are quite a few – I would have included everyone if I could but that would really have been a monster post !

So here in no particular order as some of the very special moments from the last year ……

I always do sessions when the bluebells are out – it’s one of my favourite times of year and there are more bluebell shoot images featured below  – but this photo is a personal favourite – this little monkey was a star.

I love this father daughter photo – the little one had been messing about and hurt her knee – a big Daddy Hug made it all better. This was a small quiet moment in an otherwise crazy shoot with three little ones and a new baby.

One of the many lovely things about my job is returning to see clients again and again – I shot the Mum and Dad’s wedding a few years ago and it is always a pleasure to see catch up and see the family grow. Many of the images that follow are with regular clients that return again and again.

Being outside the studio and photographing children just enjoying themselves in a way they would every day always results in lovely natural images as well as giving everyone some fresh air and exercise

This beautiful young girl started off very shy and hiding inside her hoody and behind her glasses but after a short time she relaxed and I got some stunning shots of her

I love to have lots of laughter and silliness during a shoot but it’s also really nice to get the odd serious shot – sometimes these are my favourites.

I am lucky to meet so many fabulous families and so many adorable little children and create priceless memories along the way.

I love the freedom of outdoor shoots – going to the woods where children can climb trees or run around outdoors is great.  The trees are also wonderful for creating shapes in the images.

Most of my shoots are for people locally but sometimes people visiting from abroad book shoots with family and friends – this year I had shoots with visitors from Australia, Europe, America and even Micronesia !

I love to shoot in the natural environment – there is never a shortage of lovely backdrops and the children have lots more freedom.

The bluebell season is always busy – if you would like a shoot in April/May make sure to book in advance !

Active shoots suit active kids and parents who enjoy being outdoors – sometimes with the added bonus of making your fitness instructor run up and down over and over .. so nice for the tables to be turned !

And onto Autumn … probably my favourite season to shoot – the stunning light, the colours and leaves for the kids to mess around in ….

Then there are winter days when we can only shoot indoors – or nip out quick between rain showers.

But then again – there are those lovely winter days that are so mild the picture looks like its been taken in the summer !!

One of my best skills as a specialist child photographer is that I relate to children and can work with them to get really natural lovely images – that said the reality of working with children can be rather different.   The following are a few out-takes for fun ….

Sometimes they decide they have done quite enough smiling !

You will get 3 children in a picture together in the same place at the same time and one will inevitably lose the plot:)

child photographer milton keynes

Or you (sort of) get two children sitting together nicely and one will refuse to put her tongue away:)

When photographing toddlers tantrums will happen for absolutely no reason as all parents of toddlers will be able to attest

And finally it’s worth remembering Halloween or no Halloween if you are a small child then pumpkins are probably scary !!
